Metroid II: The Return of Samus takes place (until Prime came out) right after the first game. Samus is sent to SR388 to eradicate the remaining Metroids, so they will not become a threat in the future to the Galactic Federation.

Samus blasted her way through the Metroids on SR388, including some more evolved types she'd never seen before, and finally battled with the Metroid Queen. Once she'd defeated it, she watched as an egg hatched, and a baby Metroid floated out of it, clinging to her as if she were its mother. For whatever reason (probably more money ^_^) the hardened hunter didn't kill it, and returned it to the Galactic Federation to be studied.

As most of you know, I do not have much information on this game. But I do, however, have some really good links you can go to to find out information on it, including tips & tricks, screenshots and art, and some other great goodies!! I myself apologize for the lack of information on this game, however I am trying my best currently to get some screenshots of my own for it, and put them here on MG.

Metroid Database: Metroid II Information. The Metroid Database offers the very best information on Metroid II that I've seen. If you haven't seen this site yet, then the link I've supplied here goes directly to their Metroid II section. If you would like to go to the main page, please use the link on the far left hand side under the sub-title "Other Links."
